Ralph enters his 8th year with the Mustangs as the lead throws coach. He spent 5 years with the Kitchener-Waterloo Track Club coaching middle distance; 4 years with the Split City Sonics (Lloydminster) coaching developmental athletes and throwers; and 3 years with the Airdrie Aces coaching throwers. If you attend track meets in Alberta regularly, you may recognize him from coaching throws or announcing. He is one of the two “voices” of Athletics Alberta. He has also completed 3 seasons as a high school coach and currently doubles as the Cross-Country coach for The King’s University in Edmonton on the ACAC circuit.

He is performance coach certified and has been on the staff groups of a variety of Team Albertas: Legions, Westerns, and Canada Summer Games. He has been a head coach with the Airdire Aces and twice for zone teams at Alberta Summer Games.

In the senior ranks, there are several prominent throwers who have come through Ralph’s programming and are still active: Nathan Pinno, Jinaye Shomachuk and Andreas Troschke. His current crop of athletes includes both indoor and outdoor national medalists. Over the past three years alone his athletes have set or broken various Alberta age class records eight times.
